Kanye, Beyonce, and Jay-Z Lead the BET Nominee Pack

May 23, 2012 | sunnymenagerie

Kanye West leads the pack with seven BET Award nominations this year. It was announced Tuesday that West’s ego could get a little bigger as he dominated the nominee list along with his partner in crime Jay-Z who has a healthy five, and Jigga man’s lovely lady, Beyonce, who scored six herself.

Samuel L. Jackson will take the hosting reigns this year from LA at the Shrine Auditorium. Along with the three heavyweights, you can expect to see Chris Brown dance a lot and Nicki Minaj do something she thinks is outlandish….but has probably already been done, as the two are slated to perform.

When you aren’t being dazzled by the performance hits and misses (no pun intended Chris), you can see the stiff competition in the “Video of the Year” category. Jay-Z and Kanye’s “In Paris” and “Otis” are up against Beyonce’s “Love on Top” and “Countdown.” Rounding out that category is Usher’s “Climax.” Let’s vote Usher, he could use the win right now…

Other reasons to tune in? Frankie Beverly is being honored with a lifetime achievement award, and you can probably bet on seeing another Whitney Houston tribute.

You can catch all the BET excitement on July 1st. To see who else might be in attendance, check out the nominee list below…
