Anderson Cooper may be one of America’s favorite newscasters, but even he couldn’t make it in the cutthroat world of daytime TV.
It was announced today that “Anderson Live” will not be picked up for a third season by Warner Bros. Here’s Cooper’s statement to the press:
“I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons. I am also grateful to Telepictures for giving me the opportunity, and indebted to viewers, who have responded so positively. I look forward to doing more great shows this season, and though I’m sorry we won’t be continuing, I have truly enjoyed it.”
So what went wrong? Maybe the show was just a bit too sophisticated for the daytime audience, which seems to prefer home shopping and feuding families.
It’s certain that Cooper won’t be turning up in the unemployment line, since he still has his news gig for CNN. Between the storm currently hurtling toward the east coast and next week’s election, he should have plenty to keep him busy!
