Gwyneth Paltrow celebrated her 40th birthday Friday night at a restaurant in the Upper East Side of NYC. According to US Weekly, it was a high profile event as several A-list celebrities could be seen pouring into the Italian eatery, Elio’s. 

Guests included Ethan Hawke, Christy Turlington, Mike D, Jake Gyllenhaal, Kristen Wiig, and Chelsea Handler. 

Also in attendance was Paltrow’s Godfather Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw. Her mom Blythe Danner, husband Chris Martin, and best friends Beyonce and Cameron Diaz were also in the building. Diaz who recently covered Esquire magazine just turned 40 as well. 

Paltrow clearly has a love for the Italian culture, since she spent her actual birthday (September 27th) in Italy with her family. The Oscar winning actress was also spotted earlier in the day having brunch at The Standard Hotel. It’s been a week long celebration for the mom of two.  

Many women are terrified about leaving their 30s behind, and Paltrow recently expressed her feelings  about turning the big 4-0: 

“I was really worried about it, leading up to the day, but now I feel really happy and content with my life. I’m excited to move into the next phase. It’s much more exciting than I thought it would be.”

Well if I had a superstar husband, two beautiful children, and some of the most famous friends and family in the world…I’d be pretty content at 40 too. Happy birthday Gwyneth!
