Barack and Michelle Obama Celebrate 20th Anniversary via Twitter
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle celebrate the big 2-0 today; will it give him a bit of luck for tonight’s Presidential Debate? It better!
20 years ago Obama and Michelle said “I Do” for the first time, and since then they’ve had two beautiful daughters and oh yeah, made history back in 2008. Now four years later, the couple will celebrate their wedding anniversary on the day of the first prime time Presidential Debate. That has to be a sign that Obama’s going to knock it out of the park, right?
The couple didn’t get to start their day together though, but they did act like a Junior High pair, tweeting at one another.
“Twenty years ago today, I married the love of my life and my best friend. Happy anniversary, Michelle. —bo”
“Happy 20th anniversary, Barack. Thank you for being an incredible partner, friend and father every day. I love you! —mo”
Also, coincidentally Michelle’s episode of The Steve Harvey Show airs on their anniversary. In the interview she talks about their first kiss and the plaque that now hangs in that spot at Baskin Robbins. One would hope he gets more of a dedication like Lincoln in DC one day…
In real time, Michelle is spending the first part of her day helping out Obama, campaigning in Nevada, but will head to the University of Denver for the debates later on. She wouldn’t miss it, even though she admits she still gets nervous about these sort of things, saying, “I’m like one of those parents watching their kid on the balance beam. You’re just standing there, trying not to have any expression at all.”
After Michelle’s amazing speech at the Democratic Convention, her only advice to her husband before he takes the stage, “I do tell him to have fun and relax and just be himself.”
Happy anniversary to Obama and Michelle and good luck to him at the debates!
