Lil’ Wayne Beats Elvis Presley’s Record on His 30th Birthday

Lil’ Wayne Beats Elvis Presley’s Record on His 30th Birthday

Lil’ Wayne turned 30 today and as much as he’s accomplished in the past decade, he has a reason to celebrate! The New Orleans rapper has released numerous hit singles, sold millions of albums, launched the careers of some of the hottest artists in music right now, and his list just keeps on growing.

Today, as reported by the Associated Press, Lil’ Wayne surpassed Elvis Presley on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart as the male with the most entries. Lil’ Wayne, also known as Weezy, has had 109 chart topping songs, while Elvis Presley left a legacy of 108. To Presley’s credit, the Hot 100 chart has only been around since 1958, and the rock n’ roll star already had a few hits under his belt before then.

Also, of the 109 songs, only 49 belong to Lil’ Wayne…the rest are songs he’s been featured on; the most recent being The Game’s latest track “Celebration”. Not to take away any credit from the successful musician, though. This is definitely a moment the Young Money president should be proud of.

Someone who’s certainly proud of him is the man responsible for his career, Cashmoney CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. After hearing the big news, Birdman told TMZ:

“This is a true milestone in Lil Wayne’s career and the legacy of YMCMB. Surpassing Elvis Presley is a testament to Wayne’s creativity and innovation in music over the years.”

Congrats Weezy! I’m sure we can expect to hear about this in your next song.
