Nicki Minaj thanks Obama for understanding her stance on Mitt Romney.
When Minaj rapped, “I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney/You lazy b-tches is f-cking up the economy” on Lil Wayne’s “Dedication 4” mixtape, she was quickly put in the limelight for supposedly backing Romney in this election year.
In an interview with radio station Power 95.3, Obama was asked about Minaj and he was unsure of the whole ordeal, “I’m not sure that’s actually what happened. I think she had a song on there, a little rap that said that. But she likes to play different characters. So I don’t know what’s going on there.”
So Obama just sees it as just one of Minaj’s alter egos and nothing more. Nicki headed to Twitter to thank Obama for his statement on the whole thing:
“Ha! Thank you for understanding my creative humor & sarcasm Mr. President, the smart ones always do… *sends love & support* Awesome! Now I can tell my grandchildren that the 1st black President of the United States took the time to address a Nicki Minaj question.”
Obama thinks it’s just a song and Nicki claims it was sarcasm. People are saying Minaj should be more careful with her words because of her influence. But really, if young people are voting for a president just because a character like Minaj endorses them, they’re failing.
