Sherman Hemsley passed away about a month ago, yet his body is still in an El Paso funeral home due to family drama.

Hemsley played a huge part in TV history as the brash George Jefferson on All In The Family, and the successful spinoff The Jeffersons which ran a stunning 11 seasons on CBS. So it was a sad day in July this year when the world said goodbye and he moved on up one last time at the age of 74.

A month before Hemsley lost his battle with lung cancer; he signed a will that placed his longtime partner, Flora Enchinton, in charge of everything, including his estate and remains….but this is being challenged by a man claiming to be the actor’s brother.

Richard Thornton, from Philadelphia where Hemsley grew up, is claiming not only to be related to the late actor, but he’s trying to fight the will and get the rights to everything.

Enchinton is calling Thornton’s bluff because in the two decades she’d known Hemsley, she never once heard of this man who’s making these outrageous claims, “Some people come out of the woodwork — they think Sherman, they think money.”

No court date has been set, but Enchinton hopes that all will be settled sooner than later so that Hemsley can finally be laid to rest.
