Jersey Shore Ending After Sixth Season, Are You Sad?

Jersey Shore Ending After Sixth Season, Are You Sad?

Jersey Shore is coming to an end, so there’s something to look forward to.

In all seriousness, while Jersey Shore can be viewed as a dismal notch on the pop culture spectrum, one can’t deny the cash cow it was for MTV. Since its premiere in 2009, it has become the network’s highest rated show…ever. That’s a scary thought since MTV was, you know, a channel that was supposed to be music centric. Alas, it will remain an important part of not only MTV’s history, but pop cultures as well with fist-pumping, guido and Snooki forever being cemented in the brains of anyone’s who’s been alive the past three years.

Before the sixth and final season kicks off October 4th, MTV will air a final hoorah September 6th, slyly the same day as their Video Music Awards. Starting that morning at 11am, fans can tune in to a full day of an “awards themed” marathon of episodes that will each be honored with awards like “Best Bromance.”

Jersey diehards can also catch Gym, Tan, Look Back, a flashback of favorite moments from the cast members, and a flash forward of the final season. All that will air at 6pm right before the VMA red carpet.

There’s some good or bad news depending on your feelings on the show though. Jersey Shore might be ending but MTV has said Snooki & JWoww has been picked up for a second season. No word on if The Pauly D Project will be returning though.

There is also talks and thoughts of specials with MTV reality executive Chris Linn, who recently showed some interest in airing a special about Snooki’s wedding, “I would love to have a Snooki-Jionni wedding. That could be amazing.”

Teen Mom and now Jersey Shore, does this mean MTV could be going back to music? Or will there just be another gaggle of reality?
