Shia LaBeouf admitted he took acid to prepare for a movie role…what won’t this guy do for the sake of acting?
Everyone knows LaBeouf as either the kid from Even Stevens who surprised you by growing up to look GQ, or that dude from the Transformers movies. But it appears he’s looking to be recognized as someone on the same level as Penn, Gibson, and Ledger; Oscar worthy, as he takes method acting to a whole new level by dropping acid for his role in The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman.
He’s not just dropping acid, he’s dropping his pants left and right (yes, ladies and gents…full frontal in some cases) in “artsy” music videos for bands like Sigur Rós, to engaging in unsimulated (aka real) sex in Lars von Trier’s psychosexual drama, Nymphomaniac. So it’s safe to say landing the role of his lady in that movie was a coveted one, right?
A lady not that into his deep dedication to his roles? Mia Wasikowska. She was a bit freaked out by his extreme dedication that she almost left the upcoming movie Lawless, but she ended up staying on. For that role LaBeouf packed on 40lbs and took in a ton of moonshine for the prohibition era flick.
With a lot of dismal Blockbusters under his belt like the disappointing third Transformers and the last Indiana Jones installment, LaBeouf is taking his acting to a new level, be it with the help of drugs, alcohol and real onscreen intimacy. If he’s not a contender for an Oscar, he’ll at least be known as the Tommy Lee of the movie scene…
