Madonna Supposedly Forgives Elton John, Do You Buy It?
Madonna apparently wants to kiss and make up with Elton John—or at least call a truce in their feud. At her concert in Nice, France, the Material Girl dedicated her tune “Masterpiece” to John, calling him a “big fan.” She even added, “I forgive him. Gotta start somewhere.”
That’s mighty big of the legendary diva, given all the nasty things John has had to say over the last few months. The whole mess started at the Golden Globes, where both artists had their songs nominated. Before the show, John predicted that Madonna would lose, but he was proven wrong. Then after the show, his partner David Furnish dissed the diva, her win and her speech.
As if that wasn’t bad enough, earlier this month, John let loose another diatribe against the pop star in an interview, proclaiming that she “looks like a f***ing fairground stripper” and “She’s such a nightmare … Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t have happened to a bigger c***.”
Or course, Madonna’s comments, and the choice of “Masterpiece,” could be taken as a sly jab at her rival, since that’s the hit that beat out his “Hello Hello” for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes.
Let’s hope that John is willing to accept Madonna’s speech as face value and move on, because a catfight between two old queens can get tiresome very quickly.
