Stevie Wonder calls it quits…officially.
The music is over for Motown legend Stevie Wonder and wife Kai Millard Morris. On Friday, the singer filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court citing irreconcilable differences.
This isn’t exactly a surprise, since the two have been separated since 2009. Wonder, whose real name is Stevland Morris, wed the fashion designer in 2001. The pair have two sons, Kailand, 10 and Mandla, seven.
Wonder has been married twice and has a total of seven children. His first marriage was to singer Syreeta Wright and lasted from 1970 to 1972. He later had a relationship with Yolanda Simmons that produced a daughter named Aisha, who is now a singer and has toured with her dad. Wonder has said that Aisha was the inspiration for his hit song, “Isn’t She Lovely.”
Wonder has agreed to pay Millard child support and is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their two boys.
The 62-year-old Wonder has managed to keep his personal life pretty private over a career that has spanned nearly five decades, so there’s no reason to expect any major drama this time around.
