Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, opted out of the VIP treatment and sat with regular folk at this week’s Olympic events.
The young royal couple didn’t feel the need to make a scene when they took in some of the athletics this week at the London games…well when it came to where they sat. But they were caught getting really spirited supporting their fellow Brits. They engaged in the wave, clamorous cheering, and standing ovations.
They took in Wimbledon together, so it was no surprise to find them looking ever so elegant watching Britain’s Andy Murray go for the gold in tennis. Murray was glad to have such a high profile audience, “It is always nice playing in front of royalty. They came a couple of times during Wimbledon as well. I probably dealt with it a bit better this time than I did the first couple of times. I think it is great for tennis when you can get people like that coming along. It helps raise the profile.”
William and Kate also took in water polo and indoor track cycling at the Velodrome. There the sweethearts rocked a very casual look, both in polos and pants. It was nice to see Kate let loose and get out of the designer dresses for a change. She seemed to get so comfortable when she cheered because her midriff became a highlight for photographers. That’s probably the most provocative shot anyone will ever get of the Princess.
So this pair showed that even with all they have, they’re not into being all fancy all the time. They like to take in their sports just like everyone else, even if it is in the cheap seats.
