Jessica Simpson is not playing around…
Losing that post-baby weight is never easy for a new mom, but when you’re trying to do it with the whole world watching, the stress is unreal! Jessica Simpson packed on a whopping 70 pounds before the birth of daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson in May, and very soon after, signed a reported $3 million contract with Weight Watchers as a celebrity spokesperson.
There’s one not-so-little catch to the deal though—in order to collect the bounty, Simpson needs to shed 20-30 pounds by the end of August. That’s why the singer/actress has been stepping up her exercise routine, working out frequently with a trainer, and doing lots of walking. She’s also enlisted some pals to join her in the Weight Watchers program.
On Thursday, Simpson tweeted her dedication to taking it off, saying, “Just bought all the girls in my @weightwatchers group pedometers to track their steps. 10,000 steps a day = 5 miles! Let’s step it up!”
Simpson certainly needs to step it up if she’s going to make that all-important weigh-in next month. There have been rumors that the weight-loss corporation has been putting pressure on the new mom to drop the pounds faster, a charge that a spokesperson for Weight Watchers denied in a statement. “Weight Watchers is in it for the long haul. We’re with her 100 percent as she develops a whole new relationship with food and activity.”
We’ll find out in a few weeks whether they’re still with her if Simpson fails to shed the requisite number of pounds.
