Nick Cannon clearly thinks highly of his misses, superstar Mariah Carey. There have been recent conversations about the possibility of the icon joining the new panel of judges for American Idol, but Nick Cannon might have just shut those rumors down. When approached this past Sunday by TMZ, Cannon had a funny response when asked if his wife would be joining the singing show. 

“I don’t know if they can afford Mariah Carey. That’s a lot of money. If they gave JLo $20 million, they might have to double that!”

$40 million dollars just to sit in a chair and critique? Sounds insane….especially when there are other greats looking to take on the position. 

The legendary Aretha Franklin has expressed interest in joining the show. In a recent email, sent by the Queen of Soul to CNN, Franklin says she has been a long time fan of Idol, and would love to be a part of it. Franklin’s only request? Having fellow legend, Patti LaBelle, sitting alongside her. 

Talk about nervous contestants. It’s one thing when many of the judges aren’t even that talented, and you know that you can probably out-sing them….but it’s another thing, when the judges have multiple grammy’s, and they come from an era where having a great singing voice was actually required to become famous…

A Patti Labelle and Aretha Franklin duo would definitely change up the whole style of Idol. We’ll see what happens…
