The Flaming Lips Steal Jay-Z’s World Record

The Flaming Lips Steal Jay-Z’s World Record

The Flaming Lips have dethroned Jay-Z for the Guinness World Record of performing at the most live concerts in 24 hours.

Their live show is noted as one of the craziest sensor trips out there, and they took that show on the road, aiming at the gold. Starting in Memphis, Tennessee with a pimped out bus named Endeavor, these rockers took on the challenge and exceeded expectations.

Most are calling these eight performances “unforgettable” for good reason. Special duet partners included Grace Potter, Jackson Brown, Neon Trees and an appearance by Jackass and Wildboyz star Chris Pontius. Other memorable highlights include their renditions of David Bowie’s “Heroes” and Led Zeppelin’s “Song Remains the Same” in Oxford, Mississippi.

All this was during the MTV O Music Awards. Where big winners weren’t The Flaming Lips but Adam Lambert in the “Must Follow on Twitter” award, Selena Gomez for “Best Artist With a Cameraphone” and Tokio Hotel for having diehard fans with the “Fan Army FTW.” So…really The Flaming Lips were the winners for getting a real title.

In the end losing the record is nothing for Jay-Z to cry about. He still has a solid career with sold out shows across the globe and a beautiful family. But major congrats are in order to The Flaming Lips for their feat.
