Lil Wayne finally spoke up and stood by his decision to pull the plug on Nicki Minaj’s June 3rd performance at Hot 97’s Summerjam concert, after host Peter Rosenberg dissed Minaj.
Remember when Rosenberg said:
“I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now, fuck that bullshit. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop shit.”
Some criticized Minaj for taking orders from Wayne and not going on that night, but she’s since apologized and offered fans a free performance. Others said she should’ve went on and killed it to shut Rosenberg up. Well we all know she didn’t go on and Wayne sticks by that and is saying that Rosenberg was disrespectful to women in the end.
Wayne told MTV News:
“First of all I approached the situation like this. That’s a female. First and foremost, Nicki Minaj is a female. I don’t know what anyone else believe but I believe females deserve the ultimate respect at all time, no matter what, when or how. As soon as she called me and told me she felt disrespected, I just declined everything. I pulled her from the show because no person that works with me would be disrespected in my presence as long as I’m on this planet.”
Really Lil Wayne…We understand that’s your girl, but is he really going to point fingers at people who disrespect women? Rosenberg wasn’t hating on Minaj’s gender, he just didn’t like her music. Wayne on the other hand is foul towards the opposite sex. Just take a look at lyrics from “Every Girl.”
“Open up her legs then filet Mignon that pu**y. Ima get in and on that pu**y. If she let me in Ima own that pu**y”
In this hip hop beef of 2012, there are no clear winners, but Wayne insists it’s all good with Hot 97, saying, “No salt. No bad feelings. No hard feelings.”
