Yvette Wilson, 5th Tragedy from Moesha Sitcom

Yvette Wilson, 5th Tragedy from Moesha Sitcom
sunnymenagerie

Yvette Wilson has died at the age of 48, becoming the 5th loss among cast members from the UPN hit show, Moesha.

After a healthy career in music, Brandy headed to primetime and saw much success with her show Moesha. When Moesha ended, many of the stars and guest stars went on to further their careers…Usher and Mo-Nique for example. Then there were some stars that didn’t have much luck. In the recent years, four Moesha cast members have passed away and the star of it all, Brandy, was involved in a car accident that caused another driver to lose their life.

With all that being said, here’s a list of the 5 tragedies we’ve seen since the the Moesha show ended:

Yvette Wilson, who played Andell Wilkerson on Moesha, as well as the spin-off The Parkers, lost her battle with cervical cancer this week. Sadly her family couldn’t afford the treatment anymore.

You never forget your first boyfriend and for Moesha that’s Ohagi, played by Merlin Santana. Fans who didn’t know him from that probably knew him better as Romeo on The Steve Harvey Show. Years before he saw the age of 30, Merlin was killed by a shot to the head while sitting in the passenger side of a friend’s car in LA.

Bernie Mac played Moesha’s uncle, and Yvette Wilson’s boyfriend on the series, Mac went on to star in his own sitcom The Bernie Mac Show and became forever known as a “King of Comedy” along with D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Steve Harvey. But at just 50 years old, Mac passed away from pneumonia.

It seems like every teen show has a neighbor who eventually turns into a love interest. On Moesha it was Hakeem Campbell, portrayed by Lamont Bentley. At the tender age of 31, Lamont crashed his car in Ventura County and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after.

Lastly, Brandy herself, although still with us (Thank God) was involved in a tragic event in 2006 when she got into a car accident that cost Awatif Aboudihaj her life. Six years later, Brandy went on record about the incident on Vh1’s Behind the Music.

“They know that they can call me a murderer or call me someone that killed someone. They know that is a button for me. A murderer is someone who premeditates it. I didn’t wake up that day to be involved in a fatal car crash. I didn’t plan for that. And if I could take it back, I would.”

Wow… Our prayers go out to all of their families.
