Kate Walsh Confirms She’s Leaving Private Practice

Kate Walsh has laid rumors to rest and confirmed today that she’s leaving Private Practice after season 6.

The stunning 44 year old was on Bethenny Frankel’s new talk show and made the official first statement about her primetime departure.

“This is my last season. It’s been an incredible journey an amazing ride. I’m hugely, hugely grateful. It’s been a long time being Addison. I feel incredibly grateful to [creator] Shonda Rhimes and all the fans that have been there from day one to now. I’m really excited about the last season … it’s bittersweet.”

The ABC doctor drama was a spinoff for Walsh’s Grey’s Anatomy character, Addison Montgomery. It fared well and has a legion of fans that came from Grey’s, along with new ones who just love the Practice gang. Sadly, the gang is deteriorating.

Walsh has signed on for 13 more episodes and from the sound of it, that seems to be how many are in the upcoming season. Rhimes said that this isn’t the end for the series though. It’s all due to budget issues. The monetary problems are also the reason Practice is losing another key player in the show, Tim Daly…Fans of the show know him better as Pete.

The creator doesn’t want anyone to think of this as Private Practice’s last season, but how can we not? One main character out the door before it begins and the star is leaving after this run. Let’s just call it a day and have the writers plan for the sixth to be the last…and let them tie up as many loose ends in storylines that they possibly can in just 13 episodes.
