Magic Johnson: From Basketball to Baseball

Magic Johnson: From Basketball to Baseball
lindafcauthen

NBA legend and Hall of Famer, Magic Johnson, who was a star of the Los Angeles Lakers, and probably still their most famous player, has inked a deal with a group of investors to become the owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The $2 billion deal is already being touted as the richest in history for a United States sports franchise. The group is officially known as Guggenheim Baseball Management.

Once the deal is formally set in place, Magic Johnson and his partners will own the Dodgers as well as the Dodger Stadium. The Los Angeles Dodgers are one of the most famous baseball teams in the world, as they have plenty of international all-stars on their team. Expect the profile of the club to rise significantly with Johnson in the mix. Already there is talk of the Dodgers forming their own regional sports network or renewing their contract with Fox Sports, which has been valued at nearly $3 billion dollars.

From basketball, to restaurants, to theaters, and now to baseball? It looks as if Magic Johnson has had the magic touch in several areas after his retirement as a professional sports player.

Are you excited about his new venture?
