Selita Ebanks Debuts New Fashion Line “SASS”
Author: Ashley Williams
It’s always difficult not to indulge in the aesthetic entertainment fashion brings to culture, and Spring 2012 is hardly the exception. This year, former Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated model, Selita Ebanks, debuted her new swimwear line, SASS, at the BET Rip the Runway Event.
Ebanks is most known for her connection to rapper Kanye West, and for her short lived engagement to Mariah Carey’s current husband, Nick Cannon. However, the model-turned-fashion designer no longer needs affiliation for her name to be known, as she is stepping out on her own with her new line.
SASS, which stands for Selita’s Accessories, Shoes and Swimwear, features sexy chain cover-ups, an American Flag two-piece, and derrière delighting one-pieces. As Ebanks would like to refer to it, “Sass is pretty much the female version of swag.” The edgy swimwear line, flaunted by a variety of fresh faces during its debut, features even modest pieces that are sure to get a double look.
Though this wasn’t Ebanks’ first encounter with fashion, it was the media muse’s first attempt at designing. “There’s a long process of learning, you know, what a dart really is, hems, fabric, and testing things out — trial and error.” During her interview with Extra this week, Ebanks shared a few words about her line stating, “It’s not just about the skinny ladies okay, it’s about the curves, the booty…”
Ebanks designed her line with all the ingredients for the perfect swimsuit in mind. When asked what women should look out for, Ebanks told Extra, “Its all about the lines…Just because it looks good on the rack, girl, doesn’t mean it’ll fit you right! It should never give you square boobs, or what I call it ‘booty cleavage.’ Booty cleavage is never sexy, ladies. Make sure you have two cheeks. If you have a short torso, make sure you concentrate on your legs, if you have a small bust make sure the top’s not overwhelming, something really small that will give you that line.”
Ebanks’ line is set to hit local department stores this fall, with the chain cover-ups being released in higher end stores. Prices will range from $40 to $100.
So ladies, make sure you include some SASS in your swag while you’re getting in your groove this summer.
